Free guide Β· Scout 0.1.1

Let a free AI agent click through websites for you with Scout

Scout is a free, open-source agent that uses a real browser for you. You write the task in plain words, and it reads the page, clicks, types and scrolls until it has the answer. This guide sets it up on your own computer and runs your first task.

  • A ready prompt that lets your coding agent set Scout up and run your first task
  • The install, the model settings and a first task file you can copy
  • How to run it free in your own browser, or on the optional cloud
  • What it costs, and fixes for the errors people hit first
A look inside

What's inside

1

One prompt for your coding agent

Claude Code or Codex installs Scout, writes the task file and runs it while you watch the browser.

2

Free in your own browser

Run it in a Chromium on your machine. Outcrawl bills nothing for that, and your model can run locally too.

3

Answers in a fixed shape

Pass a simple schema and the answer comes back as clean fields, like a title and a price.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Is this guide free?

Yes. You sign up with your email once and get this guide plus every other guide in the library.

Is Scout really free?

Scout itself is open source under Apache-2.0. In a browser on your own computer, Outcrawl bills nothing. You pay your model provider for the model calls, or nothing if the model runs on your machine. Outcrawl's cloud browser is optional and has 1,000 free credits a month.

Do I need to write code?

A little: one short task file. The agent prompt in this guide lets Claude Code or Codex write and run it for you, so you only describe the task.
