Review guidelines
Reviews on ai-toolfinder.com should help other HR teams choose a tool. That only works if they are based on real experience and disclose anything that may have influenced them. These guidelines are part of the Terms of use. Every review is read before it is published.
Who may write a review
You may review a tool if you use it or have used it yourself at work, for example in your daily work, during rollout or as an administrator.
The following people may not review:
- employees of the vendor,
- employees of competitors, meaning vendors of similar tools,
- anyone else with a financial interest in the tool or in a competing product, for example as a sales or implementation partner, a consultant working for the vendor, or an investor.
Each person reviews a tool only once.
What a review must contain
- an overall star rating and the sub-ratings you are able to judge,
- a title,
- "What works" and "What doesn't", each with at least 20 words,
- what you use the tool for,
- context: company size, industry, country, your role and how long you have used the tool.
Concrete experience helps most: which task the tool handles, what went well or badly during rollout, how support responded, what your data protection officer or works council said about it.
By submitting, you confirm that the review is based on your own experience, that you have no connection to the vendor or to a competitor, and that you have read these guidelines.
What is not allowed
- insults, abuse, threats, discriminatory statements and false statements of fact,
- personal data of other people, such as names of vendor staff, colleagues, candidates or employees,
- information you have to keep confidential, for example under a non-disclosure agreement,
- advertising, links, discount codes and contact details,
- text unrelated to the tool,
- text you copied from other platforms or already used for other tools,
- text that an AI tool produced without your own experience. Help with wording is fine, but the content and the experience must be yours.
Invitations by vendors and incentives
Vendors may ask their customers to write a review. They must then approach all customers or a random selection and must not select by the expected rating. If a vendor invited you, say so in the form. The review then carries the note "Invited by vendor".
An incentive for a review, such as a voucher or a donation, is only allowed if it does not depend on the content or the star rating. State any incentive in the form. The review then carries a corresponding note. We do not publish reviews written in return for an incentive that depends on a positive rating. ai-toolfinder.com itself offers no incentives for reviews.
Reasons for rejection
We only reject a review for these reasons:
- No own use evident: the review does not show that you have used the tool yourself, or the text was produced without your own experience.
- Conflict of interest: you work for the vendor or a competitor, have another financial interest, or received an incentive that depends on your rating.
- Illegal or offensive: the review breaks the law or infringes the rights of others, for example through false statements of fact or confidential information, or it contains insults, abuse, threats or discrimination.
- Third-party data: the review contains personal data of other people.
- Advertising: the review promotes a product or service or contains links, discount codes or contact details.
- Too little content: "What works" or "What doesn't" has fewer than 20 words or says nothing about the tool.
- Duplicate: you have already reviewed the tool, or the text has already been submitted or published elsewhere.
A negative rating is never a reason for rejection. You receive every decision with reasons by email and can object within six months (Terms of use, section 7).
Vendor replies
Vendors with a confirmed profile may reply publicly once to each review. We also read replies before publication. They must be factual and must not contain data about the reviewer, guesses about their identity or advertising. If a vendor considers a review illegal, for example because of a false statement of fact, the vendor reports it via "Report" instead of making threats in the reply.
What is published
We publish the text, stars, context details, your display name, the verification level and the notes on invitation or incentive. We never publish your email address or your proof of use. Context details and text together may make you recognisable to colleagues or the vendor. Choose your display name and details with this in mind.
Changing or deleting your review
You can delete your review at any time in your account. If you want to change something, write to nick@nicksadvisory.com. The page How we review explains how we check reviews and what the verification levels mean.
