Genie is the AI experience on the Databricks data platform. Business users ask questions in plain language and get answers from company data governed in Unity Catalog, while data teams define which datasets and metrics Genie may use.

Databricks combines data engineering, data warehousing with Databricks SQL, AI/BI dashboards and machine learning on one platform. Genie comes in three parts: Genie One for business users, Genie Agents for data teams and Genie Code for developers. Databricks, Inc. is headquartered in San Francisco.

• Answers questions in natural languageGenie One turns questions into queries against governed data and returns answers grounded in the organization's tables. Business teams get figures without writing SQL or waiting for the data team.

• Helps developers write codeGenie Code assists developers in the Databricks workspace. Data engineers write and fix notebooks and queries faster.

• Access rights come from Unity Catalog, so Genie answers only from data a user may see.
• Genie One and Genie Agents are free for users through January 31, 2027.
