What is Mujin?
Mujin makes intelligent controllers and software that let standard industrial robots palletize, depalletize, pick and load trucks without manual programming. It serves manufacturers and logistics operators automating handling steps in factories and warehouses.
The core products are MujinController, a controller that works across robot brands, and MujinOS, a digital twin platform for real-time autonomous control and no-code deployment. On top come MujinRobot cells for depalletizing, palletizing and piece picking, TruckBot for truck unloading, and mobile robots.
Mujin, Inc. was registered in Tokyo in 2011 and reports around 450 group employees as of November 2024. It has sites in Georgia (USA), Guangzhou (China) and the Netherlands. Customers named on the Japanese site include SUBARU, Toyota Boshoku, Aisin, Fancl, JD.com and ASKUL.
Mujin AI features and use cases
- Plans robot motion on the flyMujinController computes grasp points and collision-free paths in real time from camera data instead of relying on taught positions. Production and logistics teams can handle changing box sizes and layouts without reprogramming the robot each time.
- Deploys cells without codeMujinOS represents the robot cell as a digital twin and lets engineers configure palletizing, picking and fleet tasks without writing robot code. Integrators and plant engineers shorten commissioning and can adjust tasks later themselves.
- Picks unordered parts from binsPickWorker, launched in 2015, lets a robot pick parts lying in bulk in a bin without a taught path. Factories can automate feeding of machines where parts arrive unsorted.
What sets Mujin apart
- Controller works with industrial robots from several manufacturers rather than a single brand.
- Covers both factory tasks such as bin picking and logistics tasks such as depalletizing and truck unloading.
- Japanese headquarters with a European site in the Netherlands.
Where Mujin is strongest
Mujin is headquartered in Tokyo (Koto ward) and names Japanese customers such as SUBARU, Toyota Boshoku, Aisin and ASKUL.
Questions to ask before you buy Mujin
Check which robot brands and models are supported for your application and who acts as integrator in your country. Ask where MujinOS runs, on site or in the cloud, and what data leaves the plant. Prices are not published, so compare total project cost including cameras, grippers and safety equipment.
