Acrolinx (Markup AI) AI features, pricing and GDPR (October 2026)

Acrolinx, now operating as Markup AI, is content governance software from a Berlin-based vendor. It checks text written by people and AI tools against a company's brand voice, style guide and terminology, and flags quality problems before publishing.

The platform turns style guides, terminology and rules into checks that apply wherever people write. Plug-ins cover tools such as Google Docs, Microsoft Word, VS Code and AEM, while an API and an MCP connection run automated checks in publishing workflows. Analytics link content quality to performance. The company was founded in 2002, is based in Berlin and lists marketing and technical documentation teams as its main audiences. Writing checks cover six languages, according to the FAQ, including several English variants such as US, UK and ASD-STE100.

• Checks AI-generated content automaticallyThrough the API and the MCP integration, checks also run on text produced in tools such as ChatGPT or Claude, or inside publishing workflows. Content is scored against the set standard, and only items below the quality gate need a human look.

• Flat pricing in the published Starter and Business plans: the price depends on words checked per year, and Starter includes unlimited users.
• Enterprise adds SSO, SCIM user provisioning, custom review criteria and the advanced style and content standards powered by Acrolinx.
• Writing suggestions run on Microsoft Azure AI; the vendor states that user data is not shared with public models or used to train external models.
• Security program with annual ISO/IEC 27001 and 27701 audits, penetration tests and participation in the TISAX automotive information security exchange.

Headquartered in Berlin; Markup AI Europe GmbH is registered in the Berlin-Charlottenburg commercial register. The company also has an office in the United States.

The security page names AWS as host but, as of September 2026, no hosting region, so ask where content is processed. A data processing addendum is published. Prices are labeled introductory and capped by words per year, so estimate your volume. In Germany, analytics that show results per author can trigger co-determination under § 87(1) no. 6 BetrVG, so clarify with the works council what reports are used.
