What is Browserbase?
Browserbase runs headless browsers in the cloud so AI agents and developers can automate websites, log in, fill forms and extract data at scale, with recordings of each session.
The platform provides browsers as a service, a Search API, a Fetch API and the open-source Stagehand SDK; Browserbase also works with Playwright, Puppeteer and Selenium. Sessions can be watched live and replayed. According to Browserbase it handles more than 35 million browser sessions a month. The company is Browserbase, Inc. in San Francisco. According to the pricing page, infrastructure runs in US East, US West, EU Central and the UK, with Asia Pacific available on request for enterprise customers, and the Scale plan adds SSO, a DPA and a HIPAA business associate agreement.
Browserbase AI features and use cases
- Automates workflows by instructionWith Stagehand, developers describe steps such as logging in or filling a form in natural language and combine them with regular Playwright code. Scripts break less often when a page changes, because the model finds the right element.
- Turns URLs into model inputThe Fetch API converts a page into HTML, JSON or Markdown. Agents can read a page in a format they handle well without the team running its own browsers. Search and Fetch calls come with monthly allowances in the plans.
- Runs many agents in parallelPaid plans allow 25 to 100 or more concurrent browsers with session replay. Teams can monitor portals or collect data from many accounts at once and review what each agent did afterwards.
What sets Browserbase apart
- Session recording with live view and replay helps review what an agent did in the browser.
- Regions US East, US West, EU Central and UK, Asia Pacific on request; HIPAA BAA available on the Scale plan.

Questions to ask before you buy Browserbase
Session recordings can capture personal data shown on pages; the terms require consent and a visible label when recording is active. SSO and a DPA are only part of the Scale plan. The tool offers features for bypassing CAPTCHAs and bot protection: CAPTCHA solving in paid plans, a stealth mode and Agent Identity, which Browserbase promotes for getting past anti-bot systems. Using them can breach the target sites' terms of use and is legally risky in Germany, for example under Section 202a of the German Criminal Code (StGB) or database rights. Have their use legally reviewed before deployment. Before processing EU data, confirm that your sessions run in the EU Central region.
