What is Cognite Atlas AI?
Cognite Atlas AI is a low-code workbench for building industrial AI agents on operational data from Cognite Data Fusion. It targets energy, process manufacturing, power and renewables companies that want agents for root cause analysis, troubleshooting and other operational workflows.
Atlas AI sits on top of Cognite Data Fusion, which unifies and contextualizes operational data such as sensor time series, maintenance records and engineering documents, and next to Cognite Flows for production workflows. Agents are deployed through APIs into existing applications, with a model library and support for several clouds and language models. Cognite A.S. is based in Lysaker, Norway, and its majority owner is Aker. In June 2026 Schneider Electric agreed to acquire all shares; the deal still needs regulatory approval and is expected to close in the coming quarters. Cognite names customers such as Aker BP, Celanese, Koch and NOVA Chemicals.
Cognite Atlas AI AI features and use cases
- Speeds up root cause analysisThe Root Cause Analysis Agent gathers relevant sensor data, work orders and documents for an incident and guides engineers through the analysis. Cognite names an efficiency gain of more than 70 percent from streamlining the RCA process.
- Troubleshoots equipment in a conversationThe Troubleshooting Agent lets technicians describe a problem with rotating equipment and answers with context from the plant's own data. Less experienced staff can solve issues that previously needed an expert.
- Builds custom agents without much codeThe low-code workbench lets digital teams assemble agents for their own workflows from templates and the AI solutions library and deploy them via APIs. Companies reuse one data foundation for many use cases.
What sets Cognite Atlas AI apart
- Agents work on contextualized industrial data from Cognite Data Fusion rather than on raw document search alone.
- Model-agnostic setup with an LLM model library and support for several clouds.
Where Cognite Atlas AI is strongest

Questions to ask before you buy Cognite Atlas AI
Atlas AI requires Cognite Data Fusion as the data foundation, so the investment is larger than a standalone copilot. The privacy policy names Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure as hosting providers; ask which cloud and region will hold your data and which language models process it. Prices are not published; request certifications and the data processing agreement from the trust center. The pending sale to Schneider Electric may change contract terms, so ask about continuity.
