Doctolib is headquartered in Levallois-Perret, France, and operates in Germany through Doctolib GmbH in Berlin. For German practices it offers all-in-one practice software, online appointment management, a practice management and billing system, the AI phone assistant and the AI consultation assistant. The AI consultation assistant is also sold as a standalone product and can be opened inside other practice software. Doctolib stores data on servers in Germany and France and lists a BSI C5 Type 2 attestation for Germany.

- Answers practice callsThe AI phone assistant takes calls when the front desk is busy and books, reschedules or cancels appointments of all types, with a booking horizon of about 13 months. Reception staff face fewer interruptions and patients wait less on the line.
- Handles prescription and referral requestsThe assistant recognizes whether a caller needs a repeat or a new prescription and can request referrals for selected appointment types. A call log records every handled, incomplete and missed call for the team to follow up.
- Documents the consultationThe AI consultation assistant transcribes the conversation in real time and produces structured documentation from practice-specific templates. Clinicians get a copy-ready note and an overview of the last 48 hours.
- Works in other practice softwareThrough an integration, the consultation assistant opens inside external practice software and pulls the patient name automatically. Practices can use it without switching their main system. The note can then be copied into the patient record there.

Questions to ask before you buy Doctolib
Phone calls and consultation recordings contain health data, a special category under Art. 9 GDPR, so patient information and consent processes need updating. Ask for the DPA and confirm on which of the servers in Germany and France your AI processing runs. Prices are not published and the product pages are request forms, so compare offers in writing. A medical device marking for the consultation assistant was not found during our review in September 2026.
