What is Lexis+ with Protégé?

Lexis+ with Protégé, formerly Lexis+ AI, is the LexisNexis platform for legal research, drafting and document analysis. It serves law firms of all sizes, corporate legal departments, government bodies and academic institutions, with the Protégé AI assistant built in.

The platform combines the LexisNexis collection of US case law, statutes, regulations and secondary sources with Practical Guidance practice notes and forms in 25 practice areas and Shepard's citation service. Users can connect iManage, NetDocuments or SharePoint, keep up to 50 document Vaults and work in Microsoft Word, Teams and Outlook where available. LexisNexis is a division of RELX Inc. and reports 11,900 colleagues serving customers in more than 150 countries. The vendor names small law firms as a target group next to large firms and corporate legal departments, so no dedicated legal operations team is required to use it.

Lexis+ with Protégé AI features and use cases

  • Answers legal research questionsProtégé answers questions in conversation and grounds its responses in LexisNexis primary law, secondary sources and, where selected, web and news content. Each answer carries linked citations, so lawyers can check the authority behind a statement before relying on it.
  • Drafts contracts and litigation documentsPre-built drafting workflows turn a term sheet into a customized agreement or client materials into a complaint, grounded in LexisNexis content and the organization's own documents. Associates start from a reviewable first draft and spend their time on refinement.
  • Summarizes and analyzes document setsDocuments saved in a Vault become the source for timelines, citation searches, counterargument analysis and drafts. Protégé also suggests tasks based on the uploaded files, which shortens the setup of a new matter and keeps context across sessions.
