What is Notion?
Notion is a connected workspace for documents, wikis, databases and projects used by individuals, startups and large companies. Notion AI adds an agent for multi-step tasks, AI meeting notes and custom agents that handle recurring work.
Notion combines pages, databases, wikis and project boards in one workspace. The Free and Plus plans include trial AI capabilities, while Business and Enterprise include full Notion AI with Notion Agent and AI meeting notes; enterprise search across connected apps is labeled beta on the pricing page. Enterprise customers can choose data residency in the US, the EU (Frankfurt) or Asia-Pacific (Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul). Notion lists SOC 2 Type 2, several ISO certifications and BSI C5.
Notion AI features and use cases
- Completes multi-step tasksNotion Agent carries out tasks across pages and databases, such as building a project tracker from notes or updating many entries. Teams hand off routine documentation work.
- Takes meeting notesAI meeting notes capture a call and turn it into a structured page in the workspace. Decisions and action items land next to the related project.
- Runs custom agentsCustom Agents take over repetitive tasks autonomously, for example sorting incoming requests or keeping databases up to date. They are free to try and then billed at $10 per 1,000 Notion credits per month, so teams pay for the automation they actually use.
What sets Notion apart
- Data residency in the US, the EU or Asia-Pacific for Enterprise customers.
- Holds BSI C5 in addition to SOC 2 and ISO certifications, and only Enterprise gets zero data retention with LLM providers.
