What is vLex (Vincent AI)?
vLex is a legal research platform for law firms, legal departments, bar associations and courts. It combines a global database of legal documents with Vincent, an AI assistant for research, litigation and contract work. Since November 2025 it belongs to Clio.
vLex offers the vLex Library with more than one billion legal documents from over 100 countries, Docket Alarm for searching court records and litigation analytics, and the Fastcase Library for US primary law. The Vincent AI assistant sits on top of this content. vLex was founded in Barcelona in 2000 and joined Clio in an acquisition announced in November 2025, with more than 350 staff moving across. Customers named by the vendor include law firms, corporate legal teams, universities and bar associations.
vLex (Vincent AI) AI features and use cases
- Answers legal research questionsVincent takes a research question in plain language and answers from the vLex database, with citations to the underlying documents. Lawyers get a first overview of a topic faster and can check each source themselves before relying on it.
- Surveys and compares jurisdictionsTwo workflows, 50-State Survey and Compare Jurisdictions, collect how different states or countries treat the same legal question. The team gets a structured comparison instead of assembling it from many separate searches by hand.
- Analyzes contracts and redlinesThe Analyze a Contract, Redline Analysis and Compare Documents workflows review uploaded agreements and identify risks, and they compare versions of a document. Reviewers spend less time on line-by-line reading and can focus on the clauses that need judgment.
- Profiles judges, lawyers and partiesLitigation intelligence workflows build profiles of a judge, lawyer, law firm or party from court records in Docket Alarm. Litigators prepare for a case with a view of past rulings and filings without collecting them manually.

Questions to ask before you buy vLex (Vincent AI)
Ask the vendor for the price, since none was visible on the pages we reviewed in October 2026, and for the plan that includes Vincent. The vendor states SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance and zero-retention agreements with AI model providers, but data hosting regions were not stated on those pages. Request them in writing. Because Vincent answers legal questions, lawyers should verify every citation themselves, as with any AI research tool. Review confidentiality duties for uploaded client documents.
