FloQast vs Trintech (October 2026): an independent comparison for finance teams

Updated · 12 min · by
Key takeaways
  • Verdict: FloQast fits accounting teams that want a checklist, AI agents and control testing in three packages on a cloud ERP. Trintech fits teams that need Adra or Cadency, bank-scale reconciliation, SOC 1 reports or a German interface.
  • Where FloQast leads: Three packages with no per-user fees, a Risk & Compliance package, ISO/IEC 42001 for its AI management, and ERP links that include Sage Intacct, Xero and QuickBooks.
  • Where Trintech leads: A product for each company size (Adra, Cadency, Frontier, Accurate), SOC 1 Type 2 reports, a German interface and twelve listed offices, including Frankfurt.
  • The number that decides: 7: the interface languages Trintech lists for Adra and Cadency, German among them. FloQast names no interface language on the pages we checked.
  • Check before choosing: Which Trintech product the quote covers, whether FloQast AI matching is in your package, which SOC reports your auditors accept, and where your data is hosted.

FloQast and Trintech both sell software for the month-end close: the checklist of tasks, the account reconciliations and the journal entries that turn a ledger into financial statements. FloQast was founded in 2013 by a former auditor and is based in Los Angeles. Trintech was founded in 1987 in Dublin and is headquartered in Plano, Texas. FloQast sells one platform in three packages. Trintech sells a family of products named Adra, Cadency, Frontier, Accurate and ReconNET.

We compared them in October 2026. Sources were vendor pricing, product, trust and office pages, both public data processing addenda, press releases and independent reporting. ai-toolfinder is independent and neither company pays us. Both tools sit in our financial close category, which lists 76 tools. This page replaces our earlier comparison, because several details there no longer held, and it says where we could not verify a claim.

FloQast or Trintech: the verdict

FloQast

Pick FloQast if you run a mid-sized or growing accounting team on NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Workday, Xero or Microsoft. It suits teams that want control testing next to the close and no per-user fees.

Trintech

Pick Trintech if you want a product family for mid-enterprise and large-enterprise needs. It also suits reconciliation at the scale of banks, SOC 1 Type 2 reports and a German interface.

Packages against a product family: FloQast sells three tiers, Trintech sells by company size

As of October 2026, FloQast's pricing page lists three packages. Close Management covers the close checklist, account reconciliations, accounting operations, projects, an AI assistant and the ERP link. Close AI adds AI agents, AI matching, automated reconciliations and journal entry posting, and FloQast marks it as the most popular. Risk & Compliance covers controls, audit readiness, enterprise risk management and operational audits, and can be bought alone or with the close packages.

Trintech organizes by customer size more than by feature tier. Adra Suite has five modules: Matcher for multi-way transaction matching, Balancer for balance sheet reconciliations, Task Manager for checklists, Analytics for reports and Journal Entry for automated posting. Cadency covers balance sheet reconciliations, transaction matching, close management, journal entries, governance, risk and compliance, and intercompany accounting. Trintech's own release from May 2025 places Adra in the mid-enterprise and Cadency and Frontier in the large enterprise.

The product pages blur that line. Both the Adra and the Cadency page describe a mid-enterprise and a large-enterprise segment, so the dividing line is less clean than the names suggest. Ask which product a quote covers and why. If you outgrow Adra, a move to Cadency is a move between two products, so ask how data, rules and templates carry over. We found no public migration guide.

The two lines also have different origins. Trintech bought Adra on November 1, 2017, when the Oslo-based company had more than 1,400 customers. If you are also weighing the larger platform, see our comparisons BlackLine vs FloQast and BlackLine vs Trintech.

Matching at volume: both now claim it, and only Trintech brings a bank-scale installed base

FloQast's reconciliation page says its AI writes matching rules itself and matches up to 98% of transactions, with an example of 98% of more than 50,000 transactions in seconds. It supports three-way matching and connects to ERPs, banks, credit cards, accounts payable and payroll tools. These are FloQast's own figures and we could not check them independently. Our earlier version of this page said FloQast named no product for high-volume matching. That is no longer true.

Trintech's Adra Matcher matches across bank statements, credit cards, point-of-sale systems and third-party sources. On July 25, 2023, Trintech also bought Frontier and Accurate from Fiserv. Trintech states that these products had more than 400 clients at the time, including eight of the top ten U.S. banks and two of the top three U.S. insurers. Its homepage claims 99% or higher auto-match rates, again a vendor figure.

For a corporate accounting team with bank, card and payment processor feeds, both products can match. For a bank, insurer or credit union with very high daily volumes, Trintech has the longer record in that segment. Its trust center says FFIEC requirements for banking security are part of its annual audits. FloQast's pages we checked address corporate accounting teams.

Neither vendor publishes a limit on volume per customer. Whatever you read here, run a proof of concept with your largest feed and count the exceptions that remain instead of trusting the match rate.

AI agents: Trintech lists five named agents, FloQast lists a builder and five launches from September

Trintech names five agents and marks them as available now. The Variance Analysis Agent explains changes in balances between periods. The Flux Agent does the same across entities, currencies and reporting hierarchies. The Exception Management Agent detects, classifies and ranks exceptions in matching. The Accruals Intelligence Agent generates accruals and rolls forward continuing balances. The Data Access Agent retrieves data from cloud, on-premise, login-only and no-API sources. Trintech describes human-in-the-loop control by design, with review and approval points.

FloQast says nothing hits the books without human approval. Its agents match transactions, flag exceptions and draft journal entries. At its TakeControl event on September 23, 2026, FloQast listed Transform, Detect, AI Assistant, Operational Audits and a COSO AI Governance module as generally available. Transform builds agents from prior-period closes, Detect watches the general ledger for anomalies during the period, and the AI Assistant checks journal entries before they post. Because these launches are days old, ask for references from live customers.

On data use, Trintech's trust center states that customer data is never used to train general-purpose AI models. It also says AI features are opt-in, finance users see how an AI reached a recommendation, and models are monitored monthly for accuracy and bias. FloQast holds ISO/IEC 42001, the standard for AI management systems, and says every decision is traceable and exportable. We found no statement on model training on the FloQast pages we read, so ask for it in writing.

Trintech also announced AI-driven journal entry automation for Adra in its release of May 29, 2025. Treat that as a vendor announcement, and ask for current release notes before you count it as a live feature in your edition.

Pricing and contracts: neither publishes a number, but both publish their data terms

FloQast states: no per-user fees, pricing built around value, not headcount. Every package carries a Contact Sales button, and the page offers a demo. It does not mention a free trial. Trintech publishes no prices and no trial terms. Neither vendor shows a price, a minimum contract length or a renewal rule, so budget conversations start with a quote from both. Review sites and rival vendors publish price estimates for FloQast. We do not repeat them because the vendor does not confirm them.

FloQast claims on a page it wrote that customers go live in 1.7 months on average, against 3.3 months for Adra. The page also quotes G2 Fall 2025 satisfaction scores of 99 against 57. Trintech, in its own release, says it ranked first on several G2 grids for financial close software in fiscal 2025. Both are vendor presentations of review data. Read the reviews for your ERP and company size yourself.

The public data processing addenda are more concrete. FloQast's version from December 2024 promises written notice of a personal data breach within 48 hours. It also promises at least 10 days notice before a new subprocessor starts, on a commercially reasonable efforts basis. Customers get annual audits and return or deletion of data on request. It relies on the EU standard contractual clauses and on its certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Trintech's addendum for Cadency, signed by its CEO on January 12, 2024, gives customers 15 days to object to a new subprocessor. If the objection is not resolved, the affected part of the contract ends with a refund of prepaid fees. Audits are possible once a year with 30 business days notice, and data is destroyed or returned on written request. We found no fixed hour limit for breach notice in the addendum itself and did not check its separate security addendum. Other Trintech products may use other documents.

Audit evidence: SOC 1 Type 2 sits on Trintech's list, not on FloQast's

Trintech's trust center lists ISO/IEC 27001:2022 (certified since 2021), SOC 1 Type 2, SOC 2 Type 2 and a CSA STAR Level 2 attestation. It adds TX-RAMP Level 2 for Cadency and ReconNET, the Texas program for cloud services used by state agencies. It also provides bridge letters between audit periods. It describes SOC 1 as covering controls that affect customers' financial reports.

FloQast lists ISO/IEC 27001, 27701 and 42001, SOC 2 Type II and a SOC 3 report. It also names the Data Privacy Framework, annual penetration tests by outside firms and bridge letters. Customers find reports inside the application, and prospects ask their account executive. FloQast does not name a SOC 1 report on its trust page. If your external auditor relies on your close tool for controls over financial reporting, ask whether a SOC 1 report exists. Ask also whether the SOC 2 report is enough for them.

On internal control work, FloQast sells Risk & Compliance as its own package for control design, testing and remediation. Trintech lists governance, risk and compliance as one of six areas of Cadency. Our earlier version of this page said Trintech has no separate SOX product, and that is outdated. Which of the two handles your control testing better is a question for a demo with your own control matrix, not for a feature list.

Germany, Austria and Switzerland: Trintech has the German interface, FloQast the local advisers

Trintech's Adra and Cadency pages list seven languages: English, Norwegian, Swedish, French, Dutch, Japanese and German. It has an office in Frankfurt among twelve worldwide. The Cadency addendum states that personal data is processed in the EEA, the United Kingdom and the United States. It names hosting providers with sites in Germany, including Rackspace International GmbH and Dell. Customers can object to new subprocessors, and EU transfers rest on the standard contractual clauses. That document covers Cadency. Ask for the one that covers the product you buy.

FloQast opened a Berlin hub in April 2026 for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. BDO Germany has been an implementation partner since June 29, 2023, and Forvis Mazars Germany announced a partnership on May 12, 2026. The pages we read do not name interface languages or hosting regions, and its public addendum authorizes data transfers to the United States. Its subprocessor list sits behind a link that we could not read. For a company with strict data residency rules, these are the first two questions to put to FloQast.

Three German and EU rules shape the project. First, § 87 Abs. 1 Nr. 6 BetrVG gives a works council a say over technical systems meant to monitor the behavior or performance of employees. A close tool records who prepared and who approved each task, so involve the Betriebsrat early and let legal counsel decide whether the rule applies. Second, the GoBD, the federal tax authorities' rules for electronic books (letter of November 28, 2019, amended on March 11, 2024), expect an unchangeable record and process documentation. If a tool posts journals to your ERP, include it in that documentation.

Third, the EU AI Act. The Digital Omnibus, approved in June 2026, moved the deadline for high-risk systems in Annex III to December 2, 2027. In our reading, matching transactions and explaining variances are not Annex III uses, but any use on employee data deserves a check. Transparency duties in Article 50 have applied since August 2, 2026. Our directory also lists 3 close tools with Germany among their strongest markets, including LucaNet. See our page on Germany for the wider rules.

ERP fit, growth and ownership: FloQast is scaling quickly, Trintech's owners explored a sale

FloQast's pricing page names NetSuite, SAP, Workday, Microsoft, Sage Intacct and Xero, and its homepage adds Oracle, Yardi and QuickBooks. Trintech names Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Workday, Planful and ServiceNow, with a certified SAP connector for Cadency. Teams on Sage Intacct, Xero or QuickBooks will find only FloQast on the lists. Teams on ServiceNow or Planful will find only Trintech.

FloQast raised 100 million dollars at a valuation of 1.6 billion dollars on April 10, 2024, led by ICONIQ Growth. It then served over 2,600 accounting teams. Its homepage now says 3,500 or more, which is at least 900 more in about two years, by FloQast's own counting. The same release said the money would fund its expansion to Australia, New Zealand and DACH.

Trintech has been in private equity hands for years. Summit Partners took a majority stake on January 3, 2018, with Vista Equity Partners and management keeping minority stakes. In August 2024, Tech Monitor reported that the owners were considering a sale at about 2 billion dollars, including debt, with annual revenue of about 200 million dollars. These were press reports. We found no completed sale by October 2026. For a multi-year contract, ask about change-of-control terms and the product roadmap.

FloQast vs Trintech: frequently asked questions

Is FloQast cheaper than Trintech?

Neither publishes prices, so we cannot say. FloQast states there are no per-user fees. Trintech quotes per product, so compare FloQast with the Adra quote if you are mid-sized, and with Cadency if you are large.

Which is better for banks, FloQast or Trintech?

Trintech has the longer record. It owns Frontier and Accurate, which it says served eight of the top ten U.S. banks in 2023, and it adds FFIEC requirements to its audits. FloQast also sells high-volume AI matching, but its pages address corporate accounting teams.

Does either vendor use my data to train AI?

Trintech states that customer data is never used to train general-purpose AI models. FloQast holds ISO/IEC 42001 and requires human approval before agents post entries. We found no training statement on its pages, so ask for one in writing.

Do FloQast and Trintech work for companies in Germany?

Both have offices there, Berlin for FloQast and Frankfurt for Trintech. Trintech lists a German interface and German hosting partners in its Cadency addendum. FloQast has local partners but names no interface language or hosting region. Involve your works council early.

The bottom line

If you are an accounting team on a cloud ERP that wants close, AI agents and control testing in one package without per-user fees, start with FloQast. If you need a product built for banks, SOC 1 reports, a German interface or a path from Adra to Cadency, start with Trintech. In both cases, ask for the exact product and the exact data terms in writing, and test with your largest feed.
