What is CodeRabbit?

CodeRabbit reviews pull requests with AI and posts comments, summaries and suggested fixes directly in GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps or Bitbucket, with an IDE extension and a command-line tool for reviews before code is pushed.

CodeRabbit connects to the Git platform and reviews each pull request automatically. It is also available as an extension for VS Code, Cursor and Windsurf, as a CLI and as an agent in Slack and Discord, and it links to Jira and Linear for issue context. The Advanced plan adds security review of every pull request and continuous security monitoring. CodeRabbit Inc. is based in San Francisco. Paid plans are billed per developer who creates pull requests, and public open source repositories are reviewed at no cost.

CodeRabbit AI features and use cases

  • Reviews every pull requestCodeRabbit reads the changed code together with the surrounding codebase and posts review comments and a summary in the pull request. Reviewers start from a prepared list of findings and spend less time on routine checks.
  • Suggests one-click fixesFor many findings the tool proposes a concrete code change that the author can commit with one click. Small corrections no longer need a separate round of review comments.
  • Adapts to team conventionsWhen developers reply to or dismiss comments, CodeRabbit stores these as learnings and applies them in later reviews. The comments fit the team's own rules more closely over time.
  • Adds security and impact checksThe Advanced plan reviews every pull request for security issues and analyzes the architectural impact of a change. Teams see which parts of the system a change may affect before merging.

What sets CodeRabbit apart

  • Works with four Git platforms: GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps and Bitbucket.
  • The FAQ states that customer code is never used for model training, including at the model providers OpenAI and Anthropic.
  • Enterprise customers can choose self-hosting or an EU SaaS deployment.
