What is Devin?
Devin is Cognition's autonomous coding agent. It takes a task, works in the cloud or on your machine, tests in its own browser and returns a pull request, and it now includes Devin Desktop, the IDE formerly known as Windsurf.
Devin runs as a cloud agent that can split work across parallel agents, plus a desktop app and a CLI. Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf, with features such as Supercomplete predictions and management of several local and cloud agents. DeepWiki maps codebases, and Devin Review checks pull requests. Integrations cover Slack, Teams, GitHub, Jira and Linear.
Named customers include Citi, NVIDIA, Cloudflare, Mercedes, Wayfair and Lowe's. Plans range from free to Enterprise with SAML/OIDC single sign-on and a dedicated VPC deployment. Paid users can opt out of model training, and Enterprise data is only used for training with prior written consent.
Devin AI features and use cases
- Delivers ready-to-review pull requestsDevin takes a ticket, plans the change, writes code, tests it in its own browser and opens a pull request. Engineering teams offload well-defined tickets and spend their time on review.
- Parallelizes large tasksFor bigger jobs such as migrations, Devin splits the work across parallel cloud agents and reports back. Teams can move through repetitive changes across many files or services faster.
- Documents unfamiliar codeDeepWiki builds an overview of a codebase's architecture. New team members and auditors understand a system faster without relying on outdated documentation.
- Triages from chat toolsIntegrations with Slack, Teams, Jira and Linear let people assign work to Devin where they already discuss it. Bug reports can turn into draft fixes without switching tools.
What sets Devin apart
- Combines a cloud agent with the former Windsurf IDE, now Devin Desktop.
- Trust center lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001:2022.
- Enterprise can be deployed in a dedicated VPC.

Devin works on your repositories in the vendor's cloud unless you choose the Enterprise VPC option, and hosting regions are not published. The data processing agreement and subprocessor information require a request through the trust center. Opt out of training on paid plans and plan human review of every pull request.
