What is Libra?

Libra is a legal AI workspace from Libra Technology GmbH in Berlin. Lawyers in firms and legal departments use it for research, drafting and document review, with answers tied to cited sources and available inside Microsoft Word.

Libra offers an agentic chat, assistants and workflows, automated document review against internal standards, and large-scale document analysis called Libra Discovery. It runs in its own app and in Word and Outlook add-ins, and connects to SharePoint and Kleos. Partner content includes German statutes and case law, the Handelsregister, Otto Schmidt, the Unified Patent Court, Wolters Kluwer Online and EU case law. The company was founded in 2023 and reports more than 1,300 legal teams as users. Wolters Kluwer announced its acquisition in November 2025.

Libra AI features and use cases

  • Researches law with citationsThe agentic chat searches connected legal sources and answers with citations, so lawyers can check the authority before relying on it. Content from partners needs a separate content subscription. Research time drops because sources are found and summarized in one step.
  • Reviews contracts against your standardsReview checks contracts against a firm's playbook and returns a compliance score with citations to the exact passage. First-level review gets faster, and lawyers can verify every finding before they send comments to the client.
  • Analyzes large document setsLibra Discovery extracts structured insights from many documents and compares them at scale, for example in due diligence. Teams skip hours of manual reading and concentrate on the points that need legal judgment. It is part of the Professional plan.
  • Drafts documents in WordDrafting and editing work in the app or directly in Microsoft Word, and assistants exist for documents such as a statement of claim or a settlement agreement. Lawyers start from a structured first draft instead of a blank page.
  • Chains steps into workflowsWorkflows link several assistants for multi-step tasks such as contract review against standards or witness examination preparation. Built-in workflows exist, and teams can create their own, which keeps recurring matters consistent.
