What is Maki?
Maki is a hiring platform from Paris that gives enterprise recruiting teams a set of AI agents for skills screening, voice interviews, deep assessments, scheduling and interview notes, working next to the existing applicant tracking system.
The platform is organized as five named agents: Shiro for skills screening, Mochi for voice interviews, Ken for deep assessments, Kumi for interview scheduling and Tomo as a co-pilot in live interviews. Results flow into more than 30 ATS and HR systems, including Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Greenhouse, iCIMS and Cornerstone, and interviews can run through Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet.
Maki is operated by MakiPeople SAS in Paris and raised a Series A of $28.6 million in January 2025. Named customers include Deloitte, Capgemini, Nespresso, PwC, BNP Paribas, Generali and MAIF. The platform targets large recruiting teams and bills by candidate interaction.
Maki AI features and use cases
- Screens applicants on skillsShiro sends candidates short skills tests from a library of more than 300 skills and returns a score to the ATS. Recruiters get a comparable first signal on every applicant instead of judging from resumes alone.
- Runs first-round voice interviewsMochi calls candidates or meets them on the web around the clock, asks follow-up questions and scores answers on fixed behaviorally anchored rating scales. The vendor states it scores content rather than accent, and more than 45 interview languages are offered.
- Assesses critical roles in depthKen runs longer assessments across more than 400 skills for roles where a wrong hire is costly. Hiring teams receive structured evidence per skill that they can use in later interview rounds.
- Structures live interviewsTomo sits in live interviews, transcribes the conversation, keeps it on the planned structure and proposes scores. Interviewers spend less time on notes, and the written record makes panels easier to compare.
What sets Maki apart
- Mochi and Shiro were independently bias-audited by Holistic AI under NYC Local Law 144, according to the vendor.
- Maki states that its scores never trigger automatic rejection and every decision needs human review.
- EU data residency by default and billing per candidate interaction rather than per recruiter seat, according to the pricing page.
