What is Mintlify?
Mintlify hosts developer and API documentation and adds AI on both sides: an assistant answers readers' questions from the docs, and an agent drafts and updates pages through pull requests, for software companies that publish technical documentation.
Mintlify combines a web editor, an interactive API playground, authenticated docs and preview deployments. Content lives in a Git repository, and changes can come from the editor or from pull requests. The Pro plan adds the assistant, the agent, automations and admin APIs, with AI usage drawn from monthly credits. Mintlify, Inc. is based in San Francisco and says more than 20,000 companies use the platform.
Mintlify AI features and use cases
- Answers reader questions from the docsThe assistant indexes published documentation and API specifications and answers questions with links to the source pages. If the docs do not contain the answer, it says so instead of guessing, which lowers the risk of wrong guidance for developers.
- Drafts and updates documentationThe agent writes new content from prompts, pull requests, Slack threads or attachments and updates pages for new features or API changes. It validates the build and publishes through a pull request, so writers review changes before they go live.
- Serves docs to AI toolsAn MCP server makes the documentation available to AI assistants and agents, even on the free Starter plan. Developers using AI tools get answers based on the current docs.

AI features start with the Pro plan, and assistant answers and agent runs consume credits, so estimate reader traffic and credit usage. The privacy policy names AWS and the model providers Anthropic and OpenAI among its service providers and says data may be processed in the United States. A data processing agreement was not found on the website in September 2026. SSO requires Enterprise.
