Scribe is a browser extension and app that records a workflow while you click through it and generates a step-by-step guide with screenshots and AI-written text. It suits operations, IT, HR and support teams that document processes and train staff.

Scribe is the trade name of Colony Labs, Inc. The vendor states more than 7 million users. Capture creates guides from user actions in web apps, and in paid plans also in desktop and mobile apps. Guides can be customized, shared by link or embed and exported as PDF, HTML or Markdown. Optimize analyzes workflows for improvement opportunities, and Workflow AI connects to other tools via API and the Model Context Protocol. Integrations include Confluence, Slack and Microsoft Copilot. Scribe lists SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, CCPA and GDPR. Enterprise adds SSO, role-based access and automatic redaction of PII and PHI.

Screenshots can capture personal data from the screen, so define which systems may be recorded; automatic PII redaction is an Enterprise feature. In Germany, recording employees' screen activity can raise co-determination questions under Section 87(1) No. 6 BetrVG, so involve the works council. Hosting location was not stated on the pages we checked in September 2026.
