What is TigerGraph?

TigerGraph is a distributed graph database with built-in vector search. Data teams use it to model connected data such as customers, accounts and transactions. Typical uses are fraud detection, customer analytics and graph-based retrieval for AI, run as a managed cloud service or on their own servers.

TigerGraph, Inc. lists offices in Milpitas, California and in the United Kingdom. The product line includes TigerGraph Savanna, a managed cloud service on AWS, the self-managed TigerGraph DB with a free Community Edition, and tools such as GraphStudio and Insights. Queries use GSQL, openCypher or ISO GQL. Nine solution kits cover cases like transaction fraud, entity resolution and Customer 360, and connectors load data from Snowflake, Delta Lake and Postgres. The website names Ford, Intuit, Jaguar Land Rover and Xbox among its customers.

TigerGraph AI features and use cases

  • Grounds AI answers in connected dataGraphRAG retrieves similar text together with the related entities and relationships around it, then passes that context to a language model. The vendor says this lowers hallucination risk and makes answers easier to trace. Teams get explainable retrieval over customers, products or documents.
  • Combines graph and vector searchEmbeddings are stored with the graph, and queries mix graph traversal and vector similarity in GSQL. Developers keep structured relationships and semantic search in one database, which avoids syncing a separate vector store with the graph.
  • Finds patterns with graph algorithmsThe Graph Data Science Library offers more than 50 in-database algorithms for clustering, similarity, centrality and more, plus embedding algorithms for classification and link prediction. Analysts spot rings of related accounts and use the results as features for machine learning.
  • Gives AI agents relationship contextAn MCP server connects agents and orchestration frameworks to hybrid graph and vector retrieval. The vendor positions this for fraud, supply chain and customer intelligence agents that need traceable decision paths.

What sets TigerGraph apart

  • Native distributed graph engine with vector search in the same database and queries in GSQL, openCypher or ISO GQL.
  • Nine solution kits with schema, queries and sample data for cases such as fraud, entity resolution and Customer 360.
  • Free Community Edition for one server up to 300 GB, and Savanna runs in ten AWS regions across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific.
  • The compliance page lists SOC 2 Type 2 (covering corporate operations, on-premises software and Savanna) and ISO 27001.

Where TigerGraph is strongest

United States Available internationally

The company page lists Milpitas, California as its US office, and the website names Ford and Intuit as customers. That documents the United States as its home market.

Questions to ask before you buy TigerGraph

Graph modeling is a design task, so plan time for schema design and for learning GSQL or openCypher. Savanna prices by instance size and hour, with a regional factor, and the Business Critical tier adds multi-zone availability. The vendor says its HIPAA controls were still awaiting a third-party audit at the time of the page, so verify the current status. Audit reports are available only under a non-disclosure agreement.

Using TigerGraph in the EU: GDPR and AI Act

  • Data processing agreementNot published by the vendor: ask for one (Art. 28 GDPR).
  • EU AI ActCheck whether the AI prepares decisions about people. If not, the high-risk rules usually do not apply. The high-risk obligations apply from December 2, 2027 (Digital Omnibus).

Questions about TigerGraph

Is TigerGraph free to try?

Yes. The Community Edition is free for a single server with up to 300 GB of graph and vector storage. Savanna also offers free credits that are valid for one year, and after they expire the instance is stopped unless a payment method is added.

Where can TigerGraph Savanna run?

Savanna runs on AWS in ten regions: US East (Ohio and N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), London, Ireland, Frankfurt, Mumbai, Singapore, Sydney and Sao Paulo. For Google Cloud or Azure, the vendor points to its older service TigerGraph Cloud Classic.

Does TigerGraph support vector search?

Yes. The vendor describes a multi-modal database with graph and vector search in one system, and hybrid queries in GSQL. Performance figures on the vendor's pages are its own claims, so test them with your data.
