Fathom AI features and pricing (October 2026)

Fathom is management reporting, forecasting and consolidation software for small and midsize businesses and the accounting firms that advise them. It connects to Xero, QuickBooks and MYOB, and its Commentary Writer drafts AI commentary for monthly management reports.

Fathom offers branded management reports, KPI analysis against budget and targets, three-way cash flow forecasting with scenarios, multi-currency consolidation with eliminations for up to 300 entities, and benchmarking across clients. It connects directly to QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Xero, MYOB, Sage Accounting and FreeAgent, and imports other data through Excel or Google Sheets. The Portfolio plan gives accounting firms one view of their whole client base. Fathom says more than 110,000 businesses use it. The company is based in Brisbane and has belonged to the UK-based Access Group since 2022. A single business without its own finance team can start with one company and unlimited users.

• Drafts report commentaryCommentary Writer analyzes up to six selected report components, such as the P&L, balance sheet, KPIs, charts or custom tables, and drafts commentary in a simple or technical style and a concise or detailed length. Accountants and finance managers edit a draft and skip writing from scratch.
• Applies business and period contextUsers store goals, strategy and market conditions once as business context and add events or seasonal effects per report. The AI takes both into account, so the commentary explains what happened in the business and does more than restate the numbers.
• Suggests questions for stakeholdersOn request, Commentary Writer proposes questions for owners, boards or lenders based on the data, the context and the focus of the report. Advisors go into a client meeting with prepared talking points.
• Traces every figure to its sourceSymbolic attribution links each figure in the AI text to the report data and shows the formula when the AI calculated a value. Reviewers can check the commentary before it goes out, which lowers the risk of wrong numbers in a report.

• Priced by number of connected companies with unlimited users, and prices shown in seven currencies including euros.
• A separate Portfolio plan lets accounting firms monitor 100, 300 or an unlimited number of client companies in one dashboard.
• Commentary Writer works at trial balance level only and is available in Fathom Pro reports, not in Portfolio summary reports.

Fathom is headquartered in Brisbane, where trade press describes it as a Queensland company, and it integrates with the Australian ledger MYOB.

Check that your ledger is among the direct integrations, since other systems need regular Excel or Google Sheets imports. The security page names Microsoft Azure as host but no region, so ask where data is stored and request a data processing agreement if EU clients are involved. The vendor states ISO 27001 certification, a SOC 2 Type 2 report and that client data is not used to train external AI models. Commentary Writer cannot see transaction-level data.
