What is invox?
invox is a Japanese accounts payable service that receives invoices in any format, digitizes them with AI text recognition or operator checks, and prepares payments and journal entries. It publishes its prices and suits companies of every size in Japan.
invox Invoice Receipt takes paper, email, PDF and electronic invoices, turns them into data, routes them for approval, creates bank transfer data and passes journal entries to more than 50 accounting and ERP systems such as freee, Yayoi, Kanjo Bugyo and SAP. Journal entries can be generated from a posting dictionary; in a customer case on the website, 70 to 80 percent of entries were created this way. The same vendor offers invoice issuing, expense management, electronic archiving and carbon accounting.
invox Inc. is registered with the Kanto Local Finance Bureau as an electronic payment intermediary service provider (電子決済等代行業) and states that more than 40,000 companies use the series (June 2026).
invox AI features and use cases
- Reads invoices in secondsAI text recognition converts an invoice into data in about ten seconds, according to the vendor. Where higher certainty is needed, operators can check the result within hours to three business days, so AP staff choose between speed and a second review.
- Follows your own reading rulesThe reading AI agent lets finance staff describe in plain language how special invoices should be read, for example leaving subtotal rows out of line items. This covers layouts that standard text recognition handles poorly, in the Basic and Professional plans.
- Collects invoices automaticallyThe upload AI agent opens download links in emails, logs in to supplier billing portals with stored passwords and fetches the invoice files. Staff no longer collect PDFs from many websites by hand each month.
What sets invox apart
- Public prices from ¥980 per month plus a per-invoice fee, with no setup fee and unlimited users.
- Choice between AI-only reading in seconds and an additional operator check.
- Registered in Japan as an electronic payment intermediary, so invoice approval and bank transfers can run in the same service.
Where invox is strongest
invox is based in Tokyo, cites more than 40,000 companies for its product line (June 2026), is registered with the Kanto Local Finance Bureau as an electronic payment intermediary and connects Japanese accounting software such as freee and Yayoi.
Questions to ask before you buy invox
invox serves Japanese entities and runs in Japanese, so it is a fit for a subsidiary in Japan rather than an AP team in Europe or the US. The security policy describes an ISMS but does not name a hosting location; ask where invoice data is stored. The help center describes SSO login and an IP address restriction service that is applied for separately. The upload agent logs in to supplier portals with stored passwords, so clarify credential handling with IT before switching it on.
