What is Langflow?

Langflow is an open-source visual builder in which developers and technical business teams assemble AI agents and retrieval workflows from components and then publish them as APIs or MCP servers.

Langflow combines a drag-and-drop editor with Python: every component's source code can be edited. Flows run in an interactive playground, can be exported as REST APIs or MCP servers and can be monitored with LangSmith or Langfuse. It installs via PyPI or Docker, and a desktop app exists for Windows and macOS. Langflow belongs to DataStax, which IBM has acquired, and the website offers professional services and premier support. The GitHub API showed about 155,000 stars and a push on September 28, 2026.

Langflow AI features and use cases

  • Builds agents without starting from codeTeams connect models, prompts, tools and vector stores on a canvas and test the result step by step. A working prototype of an internal assistant can be built in hours and handed to developers for hardening.
  • Publishes flows as APIs and MCP serversA finished flow becomes a REST endpoint or an MCP server that assistants such as Claude or Cursor can call. Business logic built once can be reused by several applications.
  • Coordinates several agentsMulti-agent orchestration with conversation management lets specialized agents split a task. Complex requests such as research plus summary can run as one flow.

What sets Langflow apart

  • Visual editor with full Python access to every component, rather than a closed no-code tool.
  • Flows can be exposed directly as MCP servers, which makes them usable from many AI assistants.
