What is ChatDev?
ChatDev is an open-source platform from OpenBMB in which several AI agents with different roles collaborate on a task, originally software development and in version 2.0 a zero-code way to build multi-agent workflows.
ChatDev 2.0, also called DevAll, lets users configure multi-agent systems through YAML files and a web UI instead of code. Example workflows cover data visualization, 3D generation, game development and research. It runs locally with a web interface, in Docker or through the chatdev Python package, and connects to any LLM provider via environment variables. The README thanks the NLP lab of Tsinghua University and ModelBest, among others. The GitHub API showed about 34,000 stars and a push on July 24, 2026.
