Agno overview and key facts (October 2026)
Open-source framework and runtime (AgentOS) for agent platforms with memory, knowledge, teams and human approval.
What is Agno?
Agno is an open-source Python framework and runtime for building and operating agent platforms, where memory, knowledge and traces stay in the company's own database and people can approve agent actions.
Agno consists of the Agno SDK and AgentOS, a runtime with a web interface for managing agents. It stores sessions, memory, knowledge and traces in your database, offers more than 100 integrations, OpenTelemetry observability, audit logs, cron scheduling and multi-user, multi-tenant isolation with JWT-based role access. Agents can be reached through Slack, Telegram, Discord and more than 50 API endpoints. It deploys with Docker on any cloud. The GitHub API showed about 42,000 stars and a push on September 28, 2026.
Agno AI features and use cases
- Keeps agent memory under company controlAgno writes sessions, memory and knowledge to a database you choose. Compliance teams can audit what an agent knew and did, and data does not sit in a vendor's agent platform.
- Requires human approval for sensitive stepsHuman approval workflows pause an agent until a person confirms an action. This fits processes where an agent may prepare a change but should not execute it alone.
- Serves agents to many teamsMulti-tenant isolation and role-based access let one AgentOS deployment host agents for several departments. Platform teams operate one runtime instead of many separate bots.
What sets Agno apart
- Ships a runtime with web UI, audit logs and multi-tenant access control in addition to the developer library.
- Stores all agent state in your own database and deploys on any cloud or on premises via Docker.
Where Agno is strongest
Open-source software with no country restriction that runs on your own infrastructure anywhere.
Questions to ask before you buy Agno
Agno is a framework for developers; you need Python skills, a database and an operations plan. Define which agent actions require human approval and who reviews audit logs. The README did not describe commercial support at the time of our check, so clarify support needs in advance. Agno sends a telemetry event per agent run without prompts or outputs; it can be switched off with AGNO_TELEMETRY=false.
