Check before buying: Set up a data processing agreement once employee data passes through n8n or its AI calls, and decide who may build or edit flows touching HR data. Self-hosting gives full control over data location; the managed cloud is faster to start with but hosts outside your own infrastructure. Where an automated flow ends up monitoring or scoring individual employees, German works councils can still gain co-determination rights under Section 87(1) No. 6 BetrVG.

Browser Use is an open-source framework that lets a language model control a web browser to complete tasks such as navigating sites and filling in forms. Developers and automation teams embed it in Python applications or use the hosted cloud.

Check before buying: An autonomous agent acts in a real browser, so define which sites and accounts it may use and keep a person reviewing actions with legal or financial effect. The tool offers features for bypassing CAPTCHAs and bot protection: the hosted cloud browser comes with stealth mode, CAPTCHA solving and residential proxies. Using them can breach the target sites' terms of use and is legally risky in Germany, for example under Section 202a of the German Criminal Code (StGB) or database rights. Have their use legally reviewed before deployment. Model costs add to cloud costs, and page content goes to the model provider you choose.

Langflow is an open-source visual builder in which developers and technical business teams assemble AI agents and retrieval workflows from components and then publish them as APIs or MCP servers.

Check before buying: Agno is a framework for developers; you need Python skills, a database and an operations plan. Define which agent actions require human approval and who reviews audit logs. The README did not describe commercial support at the time of our check, so clarify support needs in advance. Agno sends a telemetry event per agent run without prompts or outputs; it can be switched off with AGNO_TELEMETRY=false.

The SWE-agent paper shows that language model agents work better when they get tools designed for them, an agent-computer interface. Its open source implementation lets a model of your choice fix issues in real GitHub repositories autonomously.

Check before buying: SWE-agent is research software. Running it sends your code to the model provider you configure, so check that provider's data terms. Agents execute commands, so run them in isolated environments and have people review every patch before merging.

UI-TARS Desktop and Agent TARS are open-source agent projects from ByteDance that let a multimodal model operate a computer or browser by looking at the screen and using mouse and keyboard, for automating tasks in applications without an API.

Check before buying: An agent that controls mouse and keyboard can do anything the logged-in user can, so test it on isolated machines and with restricted accounts first. Screenshots may contain personal data and are sent to the chosen model provider unless you host the model yourself. Check the model license and the terms of each provider.

LeRobot is Hugging Face's open source library for real-world robotics in PyTorch. It gives developers, labs and small automation teams pretrained policies, a shared dataset format and a common interface to low-cost arms up to humanoids.
