What is Litera Kira?
Litera Kira is an AI contract review and due diligence platform from Chicago-based Litera for law firms and corporate legal teams. It extracts key provisions from large contract sets, answers questions across a deal and turns findings into reports.
Kira reviews contracts in bulk for M&A, real estate, banking and finance work. It ships with more than 1,400 pre-built smart fields for clause extraction, lets teams train their own fields and shows results in a collaborative review grid with clause comparison, risk flags, summaries and export-ready reports. It connects to Microsoft 365, Litera Transact, HighQ and Intralinks, and Lito, Litera's AI legal agent, is included for Kira customers at no additional charge.
Litera acquired Kira and runs it from its headquarters in Chicago, with offices in London, Ahmedabad and Australia. Litera states that it serves more than 15,000 customers, including 99% of the Am Law 100. Kira suits law firms and in-house legal teams that review high contract volumes.
Litera Kira AI features and use cases
- Extracts key clauses from contract setsKira's lawyer-trained machine learning models find provisions such as change of control or assignment clauses through more than 1,400 built-in smart fields. Teams can train extra fields on their own examples, and each finding links to its source document, which cuts manual reading in due diligence.
- Builds custom fields from a promptGenerative Smart Fields let users create a new extraction field in any language by writing a prompt, with no coding and no training cycle. Legal teams get answers to deal-specific questions that the built-in fields do not cover, across any document type in a project.
- Answers questions across a whole dealKira Grid Chat answers one plain-language question across every contract in the Analysis Grid. It reasons over Kira's validated extraction data, cites the clause behind each answer and flags missing data, so reviewers can verify results before they rely on them in client work.
- Finds concepts and drafts summariesConcept Search uses an LLM-based model to find a legal concept across project documents from a single example. Rapid Clause Analysis groups similar clauses, and Smart Summaries turn them into text for client memos, which shortens the step from review to deliverable.
