What is Stacks?
Stacks is financial close software from Amsterdam for mid-sized and large companies. It deploys AI agents for reconciliations, journal entries, intercompany matching and variance analysis, with controls such as segregation of duties, with the aim of shortening the month-end close.
Stacks covers close management, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, receivables and cash, reporting and analysis, and journal entries. It connects to ERPs, spreadsheets, data lakes and other sources through scheduled syncs with read-only ERP access and an open API. Stacks Technologies B.V. is registered in Amsterdam. In February 2026 it announced a $23 million Series A led by Lightspeed, with EQT Ventures, General Catalyst and S16VC, and reported more than 30 enterprise customers. Named customers include Volt, Motorway, Cleo, Epidemic Sound and Yoto.
Stacks AI features and use cases
- Reconciles accounts continuouslyReconciliation agents match and code transactions across subledgers, bank feeds and the general ledger and flag only exceptions above the materiality threshold. Stacks states 76 percent of reconciliations are auto-matched, so accountants work on real differences.
- Prepares journal entriesAgents prepare journals, accruals and working papers against the company's policies and post them to the ERP with a complete audit trail before the team reviews them. Accountants spend less time building recurring entries in spreadsheets and keep documentation ready for the auditors.
- Matches intercompany balancesAgents automatically match, net and eliminate intercompany balances across entities in a single workflow. Group accounting resolves intercompany differences earlier in the close and spends less time chasing subsidiaries for balance confirmations before the group close.
- Drafts variance commentaryVariance analysis identifies material movements and drafts audit-ready commentary for sign-off and board reporting. Controllers edit explanations instead of writing them from scratch, while segregation of duties and role-based approvals apply throughout the close.
What sets Stacks apart
- European vendor registered in Amsterdam with ISO/IEC 27001:2022, SOC 2 Type II and SAML-based single sign-on.
- Enforces segregation of duties and role-based approvals throughout the close, which supports internal control requirements such as SOX.
