What is Voyage AI?
Voyage AI provides embedding models and rerankers through an API for semantic search and retrieval-augmented generation. It is owned by MongoDB and offers general, multilingual and domain-specific models.
The current Voyage 4 series includes large, standard and lite models with 32,000-token context and selectable dimensions from 256 to 2,048, plus an open-weight nano model on Hugging Face. Domain models cover finance, law and code, and multimodal models embed text with images and video frames. The models are also offered through the AWS and Azure marketplaces for deployment in a customer's own cloud account.
Voyage AI AI features and use cases
- Retrieves passages for RAGVoyage models embed documents and queries so that a vector database returns the most relevant passages for a language model. Teams building assistants get better source passages without training their own model.
- Searches legal and financial textvoyage-law-2 and voyage-finance-2 are tuned for legal and financial documents. Legal and finance teams can search contracts or filings with models built for that vocabulary.
- Reorders search resultsRerankers score a shortlist of results against the query and put the most relevant first. This improves answer quality in search and RAG pipelines at a low per-token cost.
