Alex is an AI recruiter from San Francisco that runs first-round interviews by phone, video, SMS and WhatsApp for employers, RPO providers and staffing firms, and also screens resumes, schedules interviews and checks candidate identity.

The platform bundles an AI interviewer, resume screening, a coordinator for scheduling, Talent Match for rediscovering past applicants, proctoring and identity verification. Results go back to more than 33 supported ATS systems, plus Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. The vendor lists industries from healthcare and manufacturing to retail, professional services, campus recruiting and RPO.

Alex is operated by Apriora Inc. in San Francisco, came out of Y Combinator and raised a $17 million Series A in 2025. Named customers include Mattress Firm, Tier4 Group, Yotpo, Atrium Hospitality, the University of Alberta and the UK agency Allen Recruitment.

• Detects fraud and verifies identityAlex scores fraud risk across email, phone, LinkedIn and location data, flags suspicious moments during interviews and verifies identity by government ID and selfie. The vendor's customer story with Tier4 Group describes fewer fraudulent applications reaching recruiters.

• Covers four interview channels, including SMS and WhatsApp, which suits hourly and frontline hiring where candidates rarely book video calls.
• Displays ISO/IEC 42001 certification for AI management alongside ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2.
• Combines interviews with identity verification and fraud scoring, which also targets fake applicants in remote hiring.

Alex is based in San Francisco, and almost all references on its customer page, such as Mattress Firm, Tier4 Group and Yotpo, are US companies.

Alex scores candidates in interviews, so in the US check NYC Local Law 144 bias audit duties, the Illinois Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act for video interviews and Colorado's AI Act. Identity checks by ID and selfie process biometric data, which Illinois BIPA regulates. Hosting location, subprocessors and DPA were not public during our review in September 2026; request them from the trust center.
