Anaplan is a planning platform for large companies that connects financial, sales, supply chain and workforce planning in shared models. Its AI layer adds role-based agents, forecasting and model-building help for finance teams.

Anaplan lets companies build planning models for budgeting, forecasting, consolidation, sales territories, supply chain and headcount on one platform. Finance teams use it to run scenarios and connect plans across departments. Anaplan was founded in 2006, names Miami as its headquarters, has been owned by the investment firm Thoma Bravo since 2022 and reports more than 2,800 customers. There is no public price list; buyers get a quote through sales, and the platform is aimed at large enterprises with many planners.

• Explains variances and cost driversThe Finance Analyst agent evaluates variances, interrogates forecasts and surfaces the cost drivers behind a change, then suggests savings opportunities. Controllers get a first explanation of a deviation without building the analysis by hand, which leaves more time for talks with budget owners.
• Produces AI forecastsAnaplan Forecaster adds machine learning forecasts to planning models and is described as explainable, so planners can see how a prediction came about. FP&A teams get a statistical baseline to compare with manual forecasts from the business.
• Helps build and document modelsCoModeler generates model structures, refines formulas, applies modeling practices and keeps documentation up to date. Model builders spend less time on routine setup, and documentation stays usable when the person who built the model leaves.
• Connects custom agents and language modelsAgent Studio configures the prebuilt analyst agents or creates custom ones, and the AI Gateway connects external language models through governed MCP connections with permissions and audit trails. IT keeps control over which AI tool may read which planning data.

• Covers finance, sales, supply chain and workforce planning in one platform, so the AI agents work on connected models rather than one department's data.
• Holds ISO/IEC 42001 for AI management in addition to SOC 1 Type II, SOC 2 Type II and several ISO 27000 series certificates, according to its trust center.
• States that customer data, model structures and metadata are never used to train or fine-tune foundation models.

Anaplan publishes no prices, so ask early how agents and forecasting are licensed. Agree which data center region will hold your data: the data processing addendum names Equinix facilities in Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Virginia. External auditors may ask for the SOC 1 Type II report, which covers controls relevant to financial reporting. Plan the effort for model building and data feeds from your ERP, because the value of the agents depends on clean models.
