What is AvidXchange?
AvidXchange is accounts payable and payments software for middle market companies in the United States. It captures and codes invoices, matches them to purchase orders, routes approvals and pays suppliers through its own payment network, with AI in each step.
AvidXchange covers invoice automation, purchase order automation, approval workflows and payment automation, and also offers accounts payable as a service for ERP platforms. Suppliers are paid through the AvidPay Network, which includes more than 1.5 million suppliers. More than 200 integrations connect to systems such as Oracle NetSuite, QuickBooks, Microsoft, Sage, Acumatica, Workday and Yardi, with a focus on real estate, construction, healthcare and nonprofits. The company was founded in 2000 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Since October 15, 2025, it has been privately held, with TPG as majority owner and Corpay as minority owner.
AvidXchange AI features and use cases
- Extracts invoice dataA model trained on millions of invoices scans incoming invoices and extracts header and line-item data, which then appears for review. The vendor states 99.2 percent accuracy. The AP team mainly checks fields instead of typing them in.
- Learns recurring coding patternsThe AI learns from each customer's invoice history, for example which account code belongs to which location, and applies it to new invoices. That lowers the number of exceptions that land on the AP team's desk for manual coding.
- Matches invoices to purchase ordersAvidXchange matches invoice and purchase order data at header and line level and highlights discrepancies, while the decision on each exception stays with the team. Buyers and AP staff spend less time comparing documents side by side.
- Recommends approvalsThe Approval Agent draws on historical approval data and gives approvers a recommendation for each invoice. Approvers get context for their decision, and invoices move through the workflow with fewer delays.
- Detects payment fraudAn AI-based fraud platform watches payment activity in real time, flags anomalous behavior and adjusts its rules to reduce false positives. Finance teams paying many suppliers get an extra safeguard against changed bank details and fake invoices.

Questions to ask before you buy AvidXchange
AvidXchange is built for US companies: the privacy notice does not mention GDPR, a data processing agreement or a storage location, so non-US buyers should clarify these first. Request the SOC 1 Type II report and bridge letter through the Trust Center for your auditors. Confirm that your ERP or industry system is among the integrations, and ask how payment fees through the AvidPay Network are charged, since no prices are published.
