What is PayFit?

PayFit is a French payroll and HR platform for small and midsize businesses in France, the UK and Spain, where payroll runs are prepared by PayFit's own team and reviewed by the customer, backed by an AI agent for routine payroll and HR questions.

PayFit combines payroll preparation by its own specialists with a self-service HR system covering leave, contracts, onboarding, performance reviews and expenses. Headquartered in Paris with a UK office in London, the company states it serves 22,000 businesses, mostly small and midsize employers in technology, e-commerce, recruitment and professional services, across France, the UK and Spain, with customer data hosted exclusively in France.

PayFit AI features and use cases

  • Flags payroll anomalies before paydayPayfit AI monitors payroll data and company policies around the clock and flags anomalies or upcoming actions, so the PayFit team and the customer can catch a problem before a pay stub goes out rather than after a correction request.
  • Answers payroll and HR questions in contextThe AI agent understands the company's own policies and collective agreement and can answer routine payroll and HR questions directly, backed by human payroll experts who reply through live chat, which the company reports averages about 90 seconds.
  • Drafts HR reports automaticallyPayfit AI creates and analyzes HR reports from existing data on request, saving a manager the step of building a spreadsheet by hand for a routine headcount, cost or leave overview.

What sets PayFit apart

  • Payroll runs are prepared by PayFit's own payroll specialists and reviewed by the customer before payday, rather than a purely self-service model.
  • Hosts all customer data exclusively in France, replicated across three in-country data centers, rather than wider EU or US hosting.
  • Holds UK-specific certifications (HMRC, RTI, Automatic Enrolment, BACS, Faster Payments) alongside ISO 27001, reflecting its France, UK and Spain footprint.
  • Charges no extra fee for adding a new starter, processing a leaver or running a correction, unlike some per-transaction pricing models.

Where PayFit is strongest

PayFit is headquartered in Paris and names reference customers in each of its other two markets on its own site, including Marshmallow and YuLife in the UK and Jobandtalent and Kantox in Spain.

Questions to ask before you buy PayFit

PayFit charges a monthly per employee subscription; the French price page lists plans from €20 to €30 per employee per month, while the UK site publishes no amounts, so it is worth clarifying which country's payroll service and HR modules are included for France, the UK or Spain. Because Payfit AI and its HR reports can touch individual leave, performance and payroll data, French employers must inform and consult the CSE before introducing it. Spanish works councils have a right to information on the algorithms used, and in the UK the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 requires safeguards such as human review for solely automated decisions.
