What is Solver?

Solver is a cloud suite for reporting, budgeting, forecasting and consolidation with a native Excel experience, aimed at midsize finance teams. Solver Copilot, included in all cloud subscriptions, adds a help agent and an analysis agent.

Solver combines a data warehouse, planning, reporting, consolidation, analysis, workflows, a report publisher and ad hoc reporting with dozens of connectors to ERP systems and other data sources. Consolidation covers automated intercompany eliminations and currency translation. Licenses are sold per user type, with Standard, Contributor and Viewer users. Solver, Inc. is based in Calabasas, California, and the company also runs a Danish site. Customers come from nonprofit, construction, manufacturing and software.

Solver AI features and use cases

  • Analyzes data and writes summariesThe Analysis Agent delivers contextual insights on Solver data, including anomaly detection, trend identification and narrative summarization. Controllers get a first written view of what changed in the period and where to look.
  • Builds reports and input templatesThe Analysis Agent can also create reports and input templates and gives predictive recommendations for budgeting and forecasting. Finance teams set up new reports or budget forms with less manual design work.
  • Answers product questionsThe Help Agent answers questions about using Solver by drawing on the help site, support articles and other documentation, and it explains unfamiliar error messages. Users solve problems without opening a support ticket.

What sets Solver apart

  • Solver Copilot is included in all cloud subscriptions rather than sold as a separate AI add-on.
  • Combines data warehouse, planning, reporting and consolidation in one suite with a native Excel experience.
  • Offers a separate Contributor license for people who only enter budgets and forecasts or view published reports.

Questions to ask before you buy Solver

Ask for prices per user type, since amounts were not visible on the pricing page. Solver runs as a multi-tenant service on Microsoft Azure and names a SOC 2 Type II audit, but no Azure region, so ask where your data is stored and request the data processing agreement from the sales team. Check whether your ERP is among the connectors, and ask which AI provider runs Solver Copilot.
