Tungsten AP Essentials AI features and pricing (September 2026)

Tungsten AP Essentials is a cloud invoice verification service from Tungsten Automation, formerly Kofax, that captures invoices from any format, validates and matches them and routes them for approval before posting to the ERP.

AP Essentials digitizes supplier invoices from paper, PDF, email, EDI and portals, extracts header and line data, validates it, runs two- and three-way matching and routes invoices for approval. Standard integrations exist for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, Oracle Financial Cloud, Oracle NetSuite and Coupa. Tungsten also sells other AP products, including InvoiceAgility+, Process Director for SAP, MarkView for Oracle and an e-invoicing network. Tungsten Automation is headquartered in Irvine, California, and reports more than 25,000 customers and about 2,200 employees across its product lines.

• Captures invoices in any formatCognitive Capture, Tungsten's own recognition technology, reads invoices from paper, PDF, email, EDI and supplier portals, including handwriting and complex scripts. The vendor states a pre-trained model reaches more than 95 percent first-time capture, so AP clerks key fewer fields by hand.
• Learns line item extractionMachine learning adapts line item extraction to each supplier's layout and improves with every processed invoice. AP teams working with many line-heavy invoices spend less time correcting quantities, prices and descriptions before matching.
• Matches invoices to ordersAP Essentials checks invoices against purchase orders in two-way matching and against goods receipts in three-way matching. Invoices that match go ahead, and clerks only handle the deviations. This keeps approvers focused on real exceptions.
• Answers spend questions with CopilotTungsten Copilot lets users ask English-language questions such as how much was bought from a supplier last month. The AI service only translates the question into a query, and according to the help center document data is not shared with it. Finance teams get quick answers without building a report.

• Copilot runs through the customer's own OpenAI or Azure OpenAI account, and invoice data stays in AP Essentials according to the help center.
• Ships standard connectors for Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle Financial Cloud, NetSuite and Coupa, while SAP and Oracle EBS customers are served by other Tungsten products.

Tungsten Automation, known as Kofax until January 2024, is headquartered in Irvine, California, and says it has about 2,200 employees in 32 countries.

Check whether your ERP has a standard AP Essentials connector or whether another Tungsten product fits better, for example Process Director for SAP. Ask where your data is hosted and for the certifications and sub-processor list, since the trust center did not load publicly during our check in September 2026. For Copilot, you need your own OpenAI or Azure OpenAI account and must accept that questions work in English only.
