What is Weel?

Weel is a spend management platform for businesses in Australia and New Zealand. It combines Visa corporate cards, supplier bills, reimbursements and receipt capture, with AI agents that code expenses, chase missing receipts and flag policy breaches.

Weel issues virtual and physical Visa debit cards with spend limits, merchant restrictions and subscription tracking, and handles supplier bills with approval workflows and batch payments. Employees submit reimbursements and receipts through a mobile app, and expenses sync with Xero and NetSuite, with QuickBooks and MYOB also named.

The company started as DiviPay, raised a $20 million Series A in December 2021 and later renamed itself Weel. It is based in Sydney and reports more than 4,000 finance teams and 60,000 cardholders in Australia and New Zealand. Customers range from startups and nonprofits to schools, aged care providers and larger enterprises.

Weel AI features and use cases

  • Codes expenses automaticallyThe Expense Coding Agent collects tax invoices from email, mobile and uploads, reads them with AI-powered receipt scanning and applies general ledger codes, tax rates and descriptions in line with past coding. It is included in all plans and cuts the manual coding finance staff do before month-end.
  • Chases missing expensesThe Expense Submission Agent nudges cardholders to complete expenses at times when they tend to respond and can block a card while expenses are overdue, enabling it again once they are submitted. Finance teams chase fewer receipts by hand. It comes with the Premium and Enterprise plans.
  • Checks receipts and duplicatesThe Spend Control Agent verifies uploaded receipts with AI-powered OCR, detects duplicate invoices and sends policy exceptions to the right approver. Approvers look at problem cases and do not need to review every transaction. It is part of the Premium and Enterprise plans.

What sets Weel apart

  • Combines card issuing, bills and reimbursements in one product for Australia and New Zealand.
  • Publishes its prices, from A$135 per month including five users, with AI expense coding in every plan.
  • Security page lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001:2022, audited externally each year and monitored with Vanta in between.

Where Weel is strongest

Weel is based in Sydney, offers its cards under an Australian financial services licence through Nium and reports more than 4,000 finance teams in Australia and New Zealand as customers.

Questions to ask before you buy Weel

Weel's cards and payments are licensed for Australia and New Zealand, so it suits companies operating there. Check your accounting system: Xero and NetSuite are named as direct syncs, and API access and ERP integrations are listed under the Enterprise plan. SAML and OIDC single sign-on come only with Enterprise. The security page names AWS but no hosting region, so ask where expense and receipt data is stored.
