What is Botkeeper?
Botkeeper is bookkeeping automation software for US accounting firms. It categorizes client transactions with machine learning, reconciles bank accounts and flags ledger exceptions, with results synced to QuickBooks Online or Xero.
The current platform, Botkeeper Infinite, is run by the firms themselves and bundles Smart Connect for bank data, Transaction Manager, Auto Bank Rec, journal entry automation for items such as loan schedules and payroll, Bot Review, a Close Tracker, a document portal and firm insights. Firms buy one license per client entity, with no limit on the number of clients. Xendoo Inc. took over the Botkeeper Infinite platform on March 3, 2026 and runs it as a separate division for accounting firms, with its address in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The vendor cites more than 200 accounting firms and over 5,000 business clients served through them.
Botkeeper AI features and use cases
- Categorizes client transactionsTransaction Manager pulls in uncategorized transactions and runs them through a machine learning model built for each client from patterns and earlier categorizations. Results sync both ways with QuickBooks Online or Xero, so staff no longer code each bank line by hand.
- Posts confident entries directlyAutoPush posts a categorized transaction straight to the general ledger when the model is confident enough. According to the Transaction Manager page, items below a 98 percent confidence level go to review first. Transaction Insights charts model performance over six months and groups transactions into high, medium and low confidence, which helps firms plan review time per client.
- Matches statements to the ledgerAuto Bank Rec extracts lines from bank and card statements, compares them with the general ledger and sorts them into confident, possible and no match. Confirmed or corrected pairings feed back into the model, which shortens reconciliation work in later months.
What sets Botkeeper apart
- Built for accounting firms that serve many small business clients, with one license per client entity and falling per-license prices at higher volumes.
- Works on top of QuickBooks Online and Xero with a two-way sync and does not replace the client's general ledger.
- Combines machine learning categorization with checks the vendor does not label as AI, such as the 13 rule-like exception reports in Bot Review.

Questions to ask before you buy Botkeeper
Confirm that clients keep their books in QuickBooks Online or Xero, since those are the ledgers named for the two-way sync. Data is hosted only in US AWS data centers, the terms address customers primarily in the United States, and customers may not upload content that could trigger duties under data breach notification laws. Ask for the SOC 2 Type II report. No public data processing agreement or subprocessor list was found at our check in September 2026.
