What is Buk?
Buk is a people management and payroll platform from Chile for employers in Chile, Peru, Mexico, Colombia and Brazil. It covers HR administration, talent processes and benefits, with Buk AI added across recruiting, training, performance and surveys.
Buk combines an HR core with organizational structure, an employee portal and workflows, then adds modules for payroll, attendance, digital signature, onboarding, a whistleblower channel, headcount planning and compensation. Talent modules cover performance, recognition, recruiting, training and surveys, and a benefits area handles insurance and discounts. A separate finance line covers accounts payable and receivables. The company is based in Santiago de Chile and reports more than 2 million users and more than 10,000 client companies in five countries. Small Chilean firms can start with Buk Starter, a free payroll tool for up to 20 employees.
Buk AI features and use cases
- Scores and filters applicantsIn the recruiting module Buk AI rates candidates, analyzes resumes for compatibility with the vacancy and supports filtering and scoring of applicant lists. Recruiters get a sorted shortlist instead of reading every application first, while the hiring decision stays with them.
- Reads open survey answersFor employee surveys Buk AI runs sentiment analysis and extracts patterns from free-text answers. HR teams see recurring themes from hundreds of comments without coding them by hand, which makes climate and engagement results faster to act on.
- Drafts HR texts and learning contentGenerators create job descriptions, feedback for performance reviews, emails and document templates. In the training module the AI proposes learning paths, course content, course designs and assessment questions, so HR and learning teams start from a draft.
- Answers questions inside the platformBuk AI Chat and contextual help guide users through modules, review documents and explain vouchers (comprobantes). According to Buk, customer data is not used to train public models and the AI follows the same security standards as the rest of the platform.

- Trust center lists ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and SOC 2 Type II, with hosting on Amazon Web Services.
Where Buk is strongest
Buk is headquartered in Santiago, Chile, and reports more than 10,000 client companies in five Latin American countries; its payroll module produces the Chilean Previred file.
Questions to ask before you buy Buk
Buk fits employers with staff in Chile or elsewhere in Latin America; there is no European payroll. The trust center names AWS with several data center locations but no specific region, so ask where your data will be stored and request the data processing terms. AI candidate scoring touches hiring decisions: in the EU this use counts as high risk under the AI Act from December 2, 2027, so group companies using it for EU roles should document human review.
