What is Digits?
Digits is an accounting system with an AI-run general ledger for small US businesses and the accounting firms that serve them. It books and categorizes transactions as they arrive and leaves only unclear items for a person to review.
Digits Financial, Inc. is a US company. Its software combines the general ledger with bank feeds from more than 12,000 financial institutions, connected through Plaid, plus bank reconciliation, bill pay, invoicing, a document vault and dashboards with metrics such as cash runway and burn rate. Accounting firms manage several clients from one firm dashboard, and existing books can be migrated from QuickBooks Online or run in parallel for a test period. The vendor names more than 7,000 accountants and business owners as users. The product is limited to US businesses that bank in the US and report in US dollars; multi-currency accounting is not supported.
Digits AI features and use cases
- Categorizes incoming transactionsAs transactions sync from banks, cards, payroll and connected tools, Digits identifies the vendor or customer, picks an account from the chart of accounts and applies earlier corrections. Items it is unsure about go to a checklist, so the finance team reviews exceptions and skips routine entries.
- Keeps bank reconciliations currentWhen statement data is available from a connected account or an uploaded PDF, Digits matches statement lines to ledger activity and drafts the reconciliation. Missing, duplicate or unmatched items are flagged, so month-end reconciliation becomes a review of a short list of open points.
- Reads and routes documentsReceipts, bills, invoices and statements can be uploaded or forwarded to a company-specific email address. Digits recognizes the document type, extracts the data and routes it to bill pay, receipts or reconciliation, which removes manual retyping of paper and PDF documents.
- Answers questions about the numbersAsk Digits takes plain-language questions such as software spend in a quarter or top vendors this year and answers from the company's own ledger. It also launches common tasks and answers product questions from the help center, so owners get figures without building a report.
What sets Digits apart
- The AI works inside the general ledger itself, so Digits replaces the accounting system and is not an add-on to QuickBooks or Xero.
- Flat monthly price per business shown on the pricing page, from $65 for Essentials, with a 30-day free trial and no setup fee.
- Available only to US businesses with US bank accounts and US-dollar books, which rules it out for companies in Germany or elsewhere in the EU.
Where Digits is strongest
Digits is run by the US company Digits Financial, Inc. Its help center states the product currently works only for US-based businesses that use US banks and keep their books in US dollars.
Questions to ask before you buy Digits
Check first that the business is US-based, banks in the US and needs no foreign currency, since Digits supports none of these otherwise. Ask for the SOC 2 Type II report and for details on data location and a data processing agreement, which were not published at our check in September 2026. Sign-in works with magic links or a Google account; SAML single sign-on was not documented. Accounting firms should run a parallel close against QuickBooks Online before switching a client over.

Questions about Digits
Can companies outside the US use Digits?
Not at the moment. The help center states that Digits works only for businesses legally based in the US that use US banks and keep books in US dollars. Canada, the UK, Australia and the EU are named as not supported.
What does Digits cost?
The pricing page lists Essentials at $65 and Core at $100 per business per month, billed monthly with no setup fee. Each business needs its own subscription, and a Pro tier at $250 is marked as coming soon.
