What is Moss?

Moss is a spend management platform from Berlin for European small and midsize companies that manages company cards, supplier invoices and employee reimbursements, and uses AI to capture and pre-code receipts and to answer finance questions.

Moss combines corporate cards, invoice management and reimbursements with approval workflows, budget controls, procurement and ERP integration, and according to its homepage connects to more than 40 accounting, ERP, HR and productivity tools, including DATEV. The website and app are operated by Nufin GmbH in Berlin, and the cards are issued by Moss GmbH, an e-money institution supervised by BaFin. Moss reports more than 7,500 European companies as customers. A free Starter plan covers small teams; the Professional plan is priced by module and transaction volume.

Moss AI features and use cases

  • Pre-codes receipts and invoicesMoss captures receipts and invoices and proposes the accounting entry, which the vendor says reaches more than 90 percent accuracy from day one and adapts to company rules over time. Bookkeepers confirm entries instead of coding each document by hand.
  • Answers finance questionsMoss Intelligence lets finance staff query spend data in natural language, for example spending by team or supplier. Answers come without building a report or exporting data to a spreadsheet.
  • Matches invoices before paymentThe AI matches each invoice against purchase orders, budgets and receipts and flags discrepancies in VAT, duplicates or changed bank details (IBAN) before payment. Finance sees problems before money leaves the account, and fewer incorrect payments need to be reversed later.

What sets Moss apart

  • Stores customer data exclusively in the EU on Google Cloud in Frankfurt according to the security page.
  • The card issuer Moss GmbH is an e-money institution supervised by BaFin, and the security page lists ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and DORA compliance.
  • Offers a free Starter plan and prices the Professional plan by module and transaction volume, not per user.

Questions to ask before you buy Moss

Ask which modules your quote covers, since AI accounting is an add-on to the Professional plan and the fee depends on your expected transaction volume. Check the DATEV integration and GoBD compliant archiving, the approval rules for dual control and the ERP connection. Request the data processing agreement and sub-processor list, which were not linked on the security page at our review in September 2026.
