What is Hypatos?

Hypatos provides AI agents that process supplier invoices and related documents for large companies and global business services centers. The agents read, code, enrich and check invoices and pass them to SAP, Coupa or Workday, with pricing per completed transaction.

Hypatos organizes accounts payable work as a set of specialized agents, called a workforce, covering intake checks, classification, data extraction, master data enrichment, account coding, VAT checks, e-invoicing formats such as XRechnung, ZUGFeRD, Factur-X and FatturaPA, payment terms and exception routing. Further workforces handle order confirmations, delivery notes and sales orders. Invoices arrive by email, scan, e-invoicing channels or API and are handed to SAP, Coupa, Workday or xSuite.

Hypatos GmbH is based in Potsdam with offices in Berlin, New York and Wroclaw. Named customers include Asklepios, Beiersdorf and E.ON. The pricing is built for high volumes, which points to shared service centers rather than small bookkeeping teams.

Hypatos AI features and use cases

  • Classifies and reads invoicesAgents identify the document type, split files that contain several documents and extract the key data from scans, PDFs, XML, Word or Excel files. Shared service teams no longer sort and key in documents by hand before an invoice can enter the ERP.
  • Predicts account codingThe account coding agent predicts GL accounts, cost centers and further coding dimensions from the context of the invoice. Accountants review suggestions for non-PO invoices instead of looking up past bookings for every vendor.
  • Enriches invoices with master dataEnrichment agents match the supplier record including bank details, assign the correct legal entity, complete PO line data and pick the approver according to the authority matrix. Invoices reach the right person with fewer gaps, so fewer of them bounce back for missing information.
  • Checks duplicates and VATAgents block duplicate invoices before payment and validate VAT against the rules of each jurisdiction before assigning a tax code. Tax and compliance teams see issues during processing rather than in a later audit.
  • Routes exceptions with a reasonThe communication agent sends exceptions to the responsible owner with a specific reason code and handles contact with suppliers and approvers. Clerks spend less time writing emails to chase missing details.

What sets Hypatos apart

  • Priced per completed transaction, from 0.25 euros per invoice, rather than per seat or per token.
  • Works as a processing layer in front of SAP, Coupa, Workday and xSuite, so companies keep their existing ERP and AP workflow.
  • The trust center lists ISO/IEC 27001, 27017 and 27018, SOC 2 Type II and CSA STAR Level 1, and the public DPA names OpenAI, Google, Microsoft and AWS among the subprocessors.

Questions to ask before you buy Hypatos

The public data processing agreement says processing takes place in principle in Germany, the EU or the EEA for customers of Hypatos GmbH, while customers of Hypatos Inc. are served by subprocessors in the US. Check that your contract sits with the right entity. Clarify with your auditors whether the SOC 2 report is enough or a SOC 1 or ISAE 3402 report is needed. Confirm the connector for your ERP, estimate your yearly volume against the per transaction price and ask about single sign-on, which the trust center mentions as an enterprise feature.
